Introducing and describing a new character

The chatter died down and the crystal ringing of the glasses stopped, clearing the air as a moment's silence settled over the hall. It wasn't part of the night's program, there was no person able to make everyone go quiet with a snap of their fingers, nor was there an implacable force floating around.

It was maybe a sixth sense or a faint trace of some primitive awareness long lost down the evolutionary scale that made them all fall silent for that split of a second, just enough for the shy creak of the tall pine doors at the end of the hall to attract everyone's attention.

She walked in with long strides, bathing in the looks of the attendees with her head held high and a warm smile, shining across her face. Her smile was as mysterious as it was bright and seemed as fun as it seemed caring, it left a lot to interpret and gave too little away. It wasn't obvious if she did it on purpose, if she enjoyed being the center of the world for all those people or if she had just turned away from a lively conversation with old friends and failed to realise all the eyes trained on her.

Nonetheless she continued her walk inside, a few strands of jet black hair waving in the wind as the doors closed behind her. The bangs streaking over her forehead were intact in their own irregular way, like some sort of sorcery was keeping them in that disorderly yet harmonic fashion, flowing from her rich hair down over her eyebrows and stopping just above her clear, big, bright, brown eyes, mustering all of the hall's light within themselves from beneath her long lashes.

With her round face and the slight bend in her nose, she wasn't a conventional beauty. Her features were not sculpted like those of an actress or a Disney princess, but she was undeniably attractive. Maybe it was about her eyes, her tanned skin or her full cheeks, but she had a "je ne sais quoi" about her, giving off a special type of vibe to make her beautiful in her own way, no less than any other.

She made her way towards the center of the hall, her smile and bangs still unfaltered as the clicking of her heels on the marble tiles joined the cacophony of sounds once the fleeting, magical second passed and everyone went back to their previous conversations.
